Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl in Kick-Ass
No matter what you thought of the Swedish movie Let the Right One In, you have to admit that is was a fresh take on the vampire flick, so there was mixed reaction to the news that it was being remade by Cloverfield director Matt Reeves as an American movie called Let Me In.
Star Chloe Moretz says not to worry. Speaking to a group of reporters at WonderCon in San Francisco on Saturday, where she was promoting Kick-Ass, the 13-year-old said, "It's definitely a lot like the original, but Matt Reeves, Kodi Smit-McPhee [The Road] and I, we definitely brought our own aspect to it. I hope you guys like it."
What was it like to play a diminutive vampire? "It was really cool," Moretz said. "It was fun portraying a vampire. The face of a vampire that people don't really see. You know? It's the side of a vampire that's usually hidden. They don't show it. It's always this cold figure that people always draw themselves to for no apparent reason. And this girl that I play is much darker. She's dirty. She doesn't really bathe that much. She's not glamorous. She's just a girl that no one could care less about."
It's not surprising that Moretz, who is still just a kid, hasn't seen the bloody original all the way through. "I wasn't allowed to see the whole thing," she said.
It's easy to forget how young Moretz is, especially since her upcoming role in Kick-Ass has her playing a violent superhero who uses the C word and slashes bad guys to death.
Let Me In will be released in theaters on Oct. 1. Let the Right One In is available on DVD and Blu-ray. Kick-Ass opens in theaters April 16. [Source: SciFi.com]
